Job Summary
The Abbotsford Youth Commission has been serving youth in Abbotsford for 30 years providing youth centres, youth leadership, social emotional learning, physical activity, connection, support, and recreation for youth ages 12 – 18.
Practicum students will assist youth workers with recreation programing and drop in for youth clients. The goal is to connect with the youth clients, make them feel comfortable, as well as offer guidance and mentorship.
Practicum students will need to be available for 2 or 3 of the following shifts:
Mon-Thurs: 11:00am – 1:00pm (in school programs)
Mon-Thurs: 2:15pm-4:45pm (Youth Centre Drop-In)
Fridays: 2:15pm-8:15pm (Youth Centre Drop-In)
Various evenings from 6:45pm-8:45pm (Youth Night 8-week recreational program).
Candidate: The ideal candidate must have excellent oral communication skills as well as an ability to problem solve and make others feel comfortable. Confidentiality is required.
